Firefighter dies after responding to barn fire in Pa. - 8/24/2010

DELTA, Pa. — A Pennsylvania firefighter died several hours after responding to a barn fire on Sunday.

Delta-Cardiff Volunteer Firefighter Douglas Farrington, 44, had also assisted in cleaning and putting away equipment after the response.

The following morning he reported to duty at his full-time job with the Aberdeen Proving Ground Fire Department, but returned home after just a short time, where he died from a heart attack.

A funeral for the 26-year fire service veteran will be held Friday with a viewing at 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., followed by the service at Mason Dixon Fairgrounds, 6988 Delta Road, Delta, Pa.
