Editor's note: This article updates an earlier version based on an official USFA LODD notification that Firefighter Mansfield had died. The USFA issued a correction notice Friday night that said Firefighter Mansfield remains in critical care.

BLANCHARD, Ohio — An Ohio firefighter remained in critical care Friday, two days after he collapsed while participating in pump training.

Firefighter Conrad Mansfield, 45, of the Delaware Township Volunteer Fire Department in Blanchard, Ohio, was transported to a local hospital, then airlifted to a hospital in Toledo where he was placed on life support.

The USFA initially released an official LODD announcement Friday that said Firefighter Mansfield had died, but later issued a correction, saying the firefighter is reported to still be on life support in a Toledo hospital and in grave condition.

Initial findings suggest Firefighter Mansfield suffered a stroke, but further investigation is pending.
